Everything but the kitchen sink here. 80% Cabernets and 20% Merlot on a ‘unique terroir’ of gravel, clay and limestone. Hand-picked and hand-destemmed grapes fermented in new barrels where the wine was aged for 18 months. The back label assures me I will be surprised by its power and elegance. Deep crimson. Now this is much more like it than the regular Ch Réaut! Really convincing on both nose and palate. I’m certainly impressed by the power but there is no alcoholic heat on the end. All nicely integrated and composed presenting an attractive blend of fresh leather, molasses (without the sugar) and liquorice. There is quite a bit of tannin to keep it going but you could drink it already with chewy food | Jancis Robinson | 2020 | 16,5+/20

Druiven:  80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot

Sinds 2012 staat Château Réaut onder de bezielende leiding van Yannick Evenou. Hij weet samen met 12 vrienden en nog eens 250 kleine particuliere aandeelhouders over te nemen van het champagnehuis Louis Roederer. Roederer was in 20o5 nog begonnen aan een grote herplanting van alle wijngaarden. Yannick begon dus met goed materiaal en bouwde in 2018 een geheel nieuwe ruimte waar op moderne wijze wijn wordt gemaakt.
