Here’s a new submission from Schiavenza, and it’s a wine that is only released in the best vintages. The 2016 Barolo Riserva Broglio is a brooding and powerful expression from Serralunga d’Alba (with 15% alcohol). The bouquet is busy with competing aromas of black fruit, tarry smoke, sandalwood and oak spice. The oak is strong but should soften with time. It shows lots of fullness and texture on the finish. | Robert Parker | 95

Druiven: 100% Nebbiolo

Schiavenza is een klein en fascinerend familibedrijf dat in 1956 werd opgericht door de broers Vittorio en Ugo Alessandria. Gelegen in het befaamde Serralunga d’Alba produceert men hier niet minder dan vijf verschillende Barolo’s. Dit doet men nog traditioneel met opvoeding op grote houten vaten. Het zijn Barolo’s met karakter die zowel elegant als krachtig zijn met herkenbare stijlen van de afkomstige cru’s.
