Beschrijving

The 2021 Alma Contador, produced with 91% Tempranillo and 9% Garnacha, feels very ripe, and the label states 15% alcohol. It has notes of stewed fruit, dark spices, smoke and toast. It has a full-bodied palate with abundant tannins and is very powerful and concentrated but with all the components in good balance. This is going to require a little more time in bottle and/or powerful food. 14,000 bottles produced. It was bottled after 20 months in new French oak barrels | Wine Advocate | 2024 | 95

Druiven: 91% Tempranillo, 9% Garnacha

Alma werd vorig jaar als nieuwe prestige-cuvée geïntroduceerd bij het gerenomeerde Rioja-huis Contador van wijnmaker Benjamin Romeo. De wijn debuteerde – succesvol – op de Place de Bordeaux.

De wijn is een blend van wijngaarden (La Liende, Diasol en El Bombón), elk op verschillende hoogtes gelegen in de sub-regio van Sonsierra. De wijn rijpt 20 maanden in vaten van Frans eikenhout, 100% nieuw. Het leeuwendeel van de wijn bestaat uit Tempranillo, aangevuld met 9% Garnacha.
