What a stunning Pichon Comtesse. A salty element on the nose, fragrant blackcurrant. Ripe and softly fleshy, this fills the mouth straight away with the most gorgeous juicy, rich and also cool tannins that are so comforting. Accomplished winemaking where every element adds to the overall impression. Long, muscular but sinewy too. Just a simply gorgeous wine. Almost lightly framed, saline-edged tannins, a grip to the liquorice, cola, mint and crushed stones. Pauillac through and through but with energy, focus and clear detail. Ageing will surely elongate the expression and give depth. A yield of 24hl/ha. | Decanter | 2025 | 96

Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Deuxième Grand Cru Classé uit Pauillac, heette voorheen Château Pichon-Longueville. In oorsprong viel het samen met het huidige Château Pichon-Baron. Toen de oprichter Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville op zijn sterfbed het wijndomein verdeelde over zijn vijf kinderen kwam het huidige Château Pichon-Baron in handen van zijn twee zonen en Château Lalande in handen van zijn drie dochters. In 2007 komt het prestigieuze wijnhuis in handen van het champagnehuis Roederer. Een grootste en totale renovatie volgt waarbij de wijngaarden zorgvuldig worden herbeplant waarbij het type onderstam per wijnstok afgestemd op de bodemsamenstelling. Uiteindelijk heeft dit ook geleid tot een toename van Cabernet Sauvignon. Alle veranderingen hebben geleid tot indrukwekkende kwaliteitsverbeteringen die nog steeds doorgaan. 100% biodynamisch sinds 2021. Een 2e Grand Cru Classé in topvorm en één van de allerbeste wijnen uit Bordeaux die lang kan rijpen. Tweede wijn: Réserve de la Comtesse. Tevens in bezit: Château de Pez en Château Haut-Beauséjour.
