Fragrant, floral, precise, with graphite and crayon character that is immediately apparant on the nose. Very much captures the appellation and estate signature, with real classicism and balance, depth through the mid palate and slim, savoury blue and black fruits. Druiven: 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot

Château Batailley, Cinquième Grand Gru Classé, is in eigendom van het grote Borie-Manoux (Castéja familie). Tot 1942 bestond Château Batailley nog uit één groot domein, maar werd vervolgens opgedeeld, waarbij Château Haut-Batailley is ontstaan als zelfstandig domein. De 57 hectare is aangeplant met 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc en 2% Petit Verdot. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld 40 jaar oud. Château Batailley produceert typische duurzame Pauillac wijnen, gedreven door Cabernet Sauvignon, intens, zuiver en veel cassis. Tweede wijn (sinds 2015): Lions de Batailley. Biedt goede waar voor het geld.
