The 2020 Pavie Macquin is sensational. Rich, dark and explosive, the 2020 balances the natural richness that is such a signature of the estate with a level of energy and vibrancy I have not seen here in the recent past. The result is a towering, imposing Pavie Macquin that hugely delivers. In this vintage, regisseur Nicolas Thienpont did not use the Cabernet Sauvignon, so the blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc lending aromatic presence, energy and depth. Een prachtige en vitale Premier Grand Cru Classé; Château Pavie Macquin. Gelegen op het kalksteenplateau en buur van Château Troplong Mondot en Château Trotte Vieille. Nieuw leven ingeblazen tijdens de jaren negentig als het in eigendom komt van de huidige drie eigenaren. Zij voegen bekende wijnmakers toe aan het team. Eerst Stephane Derencourt en later Nicolas Thienpont. Dan gaat het snel omhoog met de kwaliteit. 15 hectare zijn beplant met 80% merlot, 18% cabernet franc en 2% cabernet sauvignon. 100% organische wijnbouw wordt toegepast. Krachtige, geconcentreerde en volle wijnen die tijd nodig hebben. Tweede wijn: Les Chênes de Macquin.
