Nice herbal aspects to the nose, touching on savoury – some truffle aromas alongside blackcurrants and bramble fruits. Great density straight away, plush, rich and ripe but in a great way – this has purity and precision and I love the texture. It softens and expands after a few seconds when the spice comes in, perhaps from the oak, or a touch of alcohol still making its presence known but it’s not totally disruptive. A really very promising initial taste from this which has a long life ahead. Easy to recommend. | Decanter | 2022 | 95
Druiven: 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc
De geschiedenis van Château Le Prieuré, Saint-Émilion Gran Cru Classé gaat helemaal terug naar 1696 en heeft sindsdien vele eigenaren gekend. Sinds 2018 is het domein in bezit van de Artemis Groep, de eigenaar van o.a. Château Latour, Premier Grand Cru Classé. Zusterbedrijven zijn verder Château Siaurac, Lalande de Pomerol, en Château Vray Croix de Gay, Pomerol. De wijngaarden bestaan voor 75% uit Merlot en 25 % Cabernet Franc. Sinds 2016 worden uitsluitend organische en biodynamische landbouwtechnieken gebruikt. Château Le Prieuré is in jonger jaren stug en gesloten.
