Fully knitted down but already showing its class, with a nuanced, complex mix of cassis, blackberry and black cherry fruits shot through with bitter orange peel, crushed stones and sage leaf. The most gorgeous juicy freshness runs through the muscular tannins, with the same violet flower freshness that was found in La Chapelle this year. Just so full of enticing campfire and gunsmoke on this finish, this is a wine that will go for years. Love it, one of my wines of the vintage. Bottled May. Druiven: 53% Merlot, 39,5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7,5% Cabernet Franc
Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Cru Classé uit Pessac-Léognan is sinds 1983 in het bezit van de familie Dillon, de eigenaar van Château Haut-Brion. Het werd nooit opgenomen in de classificatie van 1855 alhoewel het destijds duurder was dan de huidige tweede cru’s. Er worden grootse wijnen voortgebracht die internationaal veel liefhebbers kent; rijke, intense, weelderige en aantrekkelijke wijnen die goed rijpen. De 26 hectare wijngaarden zijn bestaan uit 45,8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43,8% Merlot en 10,4% Cabernet Franc. Tweede wijn: La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion. Tevens produceert men een prachtige door Semillon gedomineerde witte wijn: La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc.
