The quality of this 2016 just shines out. It’s full of plump fruit, with great balance and plenty of Margaux typicity – plump red and black berry fruits and high floral aromatics, an exemplary second wine. And from a yield of 55hl/ha; a great example of how (low) yields are not a necessary indicator of quality. Some menthol notes on the finish also, this is juicy and although you could drink now, it will develop further in bottle. | Decanter | 2019 | 91
Druiven: 65% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot
Op het domein van het huidige Château d’Issan in Margaux werd al wijn gemaakt in 1152. Daarmee is Château d’Issan, troisième grand cru classé, een van de oudste wijn producerende domeinen in de Médoc en zelfs in Bordeaux. Sinds 1998 zijn er veel veranderingen doorgevoerd onder de leiding van Emmanual Cruse en vandaag de dag presteert het château uitstekend. 44 hectare zijn aangeplant met 60% cabernet sauvignon en 40% merlot. Geurige en rijke wijnen.
